  Air Vice Marshall Ahmed Mu’azu (retd) was handed over by the chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, to oversee the affairs of the commission awaiting confirmation by the Senate. Speaking at INEC headquarters in Abuja on Monday 9 November, Yakubu said the national commissioners decided that, pending his appointment, Mu’azu would take over as the acting chairman. He said; “You may recall that the current Commission was inaugurated in three batches. The chairman and five Commissioners were sworn-in on 9th November 2015, followed by another six Commissioners on December 7, 2016, and one more Commissioner on July 21, 2018. “The commission is a constitutional body whose members are appointed for five years which may be renewed for a second and final term.  *OFFICIAL: FCEABK MANAGEMENT ORDERS NCE AND DEGREE STUDENTS TO RESUME ON NOVEMBER 9TH*  The management of Federal College of Education, Abeokuta has on Monday, 2nd of November 2020 officially announced the institution's resumption date after eight months of inactivity caused by corona virus pandemic, _The Academia reports._  Recall that The College Management had earlier ordered the closure of schools for the period of one month after the country recorded the first index case of COVID-19 in March and the Federal Government further ordered indefinite closure in May 2020. Following the recent briefing by the academic board, the oldest tertiary institution in Ogun State has now directed for the immediate commencement of academic activities.    In a memo obtained by _The Academia,_ the management announced that only the freshers and sophomore NCE students will resume on Monday, 9th of November, 2020 while the finalists will have to wait for further directives....

  The Non-Academic Staff Union, Federal College of Education, Abeokuta (NASU-FCEABK) has on Monday, October 26th 2020 embarked on a 14-day strike, _The Academia_ reports.  This was made known to the press by the Union's chairman, Mr. Adewuyi Adekunle Waheed shortly after the strike began. He affirmed that the industrial action will last for 14 days and refused to comment on the effects it will have on academic activities.  In his words, he said; "This is a [non-teaching] staff matter, we commenced the strike today and it's going to last for 14 days. "I know nothing about [academic activities], it lies in the hand of the management of the college. "I don't know if we will call it off soon, what I just know is that the strike is on and the the reason to call it off is not before us. The reason for the strike is numerous."   National leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Bola Tinubu has said that although he had prior knowledge hoodlums would attack TVC and Nation newspaper, he did not call on the police or army to clamp down on them. Tinubu stated this in a release on Sunday, addressing allegations he ordered the reported deployment of soldiers against peaceful protesters at Lekki on October 20. “This allegation is a complete and terrible lie. I did not order this or any assault against anybody. I would never want such a vile thing to happen nor did I have any prior knowledge about this sad event,” he said.
