  The Non-Academic Staff Union, Federal College of Education, Abeokuta (NASU-FCEABK) has on Monday, October 26th 2020 embarked on a 14-day strike, _The Academia_ reports.  This was made known to the press by the Union's chairman, Mr. Adewuyi Adekunle Waheed shortly after the strike began.   With the destruction of 25 police stations, 20 patrol vehicles, three barracks and communication gadgets, the Lagos State Police Command, will require at least N10 billion to replace the facilities lost to the #EndSARS protests in the state, THISDAY’s investigation has shown. According to the state police command, the 25 stations burnt in the state are: Orile, Amukoko, Layeni, Ilasamaja, Ikotun, Ajah, Igando, Elemoro, Makinde, Onipanu, Ebute Ero, Pen Cinema, Isokoko, Alade, Cele, Igbo Elerin, Shibiri, Gbagada, Onilekere, Makoko, Daleko, Asahun, Makinyo, Amuwo-Odofin and Anti-Kidnapping unit at Surulere.  President Muhammadu Buhari has said at least 69  have been killed during the #EndSARS protests across the country. According to the BBC, Buhari gave the number during a virtual meeting with former leaders and security chiefs on Friday. He was quoted as saying 51 civilians, 11 police officers and seven soldiers had died. A statement released by presidential spokesman, Femi Adesina, at the end of the meeting also quoted Buhari as saying it is unfortunate that the “initial genuine and well-intended protest of youths was hijacked and misdirected”. The past Nigerian leaders  present at the meeting  included Gen. Yakubu Gowon, President Olusegun Obasanjo, Gen. Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida, Chief Ernest Shonekan, Gen. Abulsalami Abubakar and former President Goodluck Jonathan. Looted COVID-19 palliatives meant for the poor – Lagos govt...

 Lagos State Government has condemned the vandalization of the warehouse at Mazamaza housing the food palliative packages. They were donated by the Private Sector Coalition Against COVID-19 (CACOVID) group. Abisola Olusanya, Acting Agriculture Commissioner, in a statement on Thursday, recalled that Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu received the items on September 22. He said the food palliatives were “meant for distribution to the indigent”. Olusanya noted the warehouse is not state-owned and that its usage was made available to the CACOVID group. The official disclosed that Lagos was allowed to commence rebagging of those allotted to it from the quantities meant for South-West States. “The rebagging was being done to account for each beneficiary receipt, as was required and monitored by the CACOVID team.  Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi state has again weighed in on the #EndSARS protest by volunteering to be the leader. Speaking in a statewide address on Monday October 19, the Kogi state Governor stated that it is time the leaders of the protesters come out to engage with the government. The Kogi state Governor who also stated that it will be difficult for governments at all levels to know who to interface while resolving some of the issues if there are no leaders, also alleged that opportunists could hijack the gains of the protests. He further promised to march youths from Kogi state to Abuja on October 24.

  The Oyo state government says it has created an email account and dedicated a section of the state’s website for residents to report cases of police brutality. Seyi Makinde, governor of Oyo, in a statement on Sunday, noted that this was part of the state’s efforts to address the demands of the #EndSARS protesters. Protesters are calling for justice for victims of police brutality.
